Electrical work is not represented as general renovation labour.
In Ontario, electrical work for hire must be performed by a Licensed Electrical Contractor. JT coordinates the renovation sequence with the appropriate contractor rather than claiming that ESA certifies JT itself.
When the scope requires an ESA notification and review, the Licensed Electrical Contractor arranges that process. A Certificate of Acceptance is issued after the work passes the applicable ESA review or inspection.
Before work begins
Information that helps define the trade scope.
Municipal permits, building approvals, utility requirements, ESA requirements, and trade responsibilities depend on the actual property and scope. They are confirmed in writing before work proceeds.
- Existing condition: photos, symptoms, repair history, panel or shutoff location, and any active leak, outage, damage, or safety concern.
- Desired change: fixture specifications, appliance loads, outlet or lighting locations, plumbing moves, and finish expectations.
- Access and shutdowns: occupancy, resident notice, electrical or water shutdown windows, building contacts, working hours, and shared-area protection.
- Approvals: condominium or property-management rules, municipal permit requirements, drawings, ESA notification responsibility, and required closeout documents.
- Emergency conditions: for fire, arcing, gas odour, electrical danger, or major active flooding, leave the area if necessary and contact emergency services, the utility, or the appropriate emergency trade first.
