Start with exact model numbers
A kitchen drawing can look complete while still leaving an important question unanswered: will the selected appliances actually fit and work in that layout? Create an appliance schedule before the cabinet order is approved. List every appliance that will remain, every replacement and anything still undecided. A brand name or advertised width is not a complete specification.
For each selected model, save the current installation instructions and dimension sheet. Keep the supplier reference and document date beside the model number. If a replacement model is proposed later, treat it as a layout change that needs another review rather than assuming it has the same dimensions.
Record the opening and the operating space
Separate three measurements: the appliance itself, the opening it needs and the space used when its doors or drawers are open. Handles, hinges and trim can affect the result. Ask the installer to verify clearances against the exact manufacturer instructions; there is no single clearance that works for every model.
Review nearby cabinet doors, the dishwasher door and refrigerator drawers together. A refrigerator that fits between panels can still be inconvenient if an adjacent wall prevents a drawer from opening fully. Check the route into the kitchen
Walk the delivery route from the unloading point to the final position. Record the narrowest doorways, tight turns and elevator dimensions where relevant. Confirm packaging dimensions and delivery arrangements with the supplier, including who is responsible for any approved door removal and reinstatement.
Photograph the route and label the measurements clearly. In a condo or managed building, confirm delivery bookings with management before accepting a delivery date. Do not use a cabinet-opening measurement as proof that an appliance can reach the kitchen.
Agree who verifies what
Have the cabinet supplier and installer confirm the final appliance schedule before production. Ask the appropriate trades to review connection requirements; this worksheet is not an electrical, gas or plumbing installation guide. Record any unresolved question as an open item with an owner and deadline.
For example, if the refrigerator model changes after the cabinet drawing is signed, circulate the new specification to everyone affected. Keep one approved schedule rather than several conflicting versions in emails. This makes the decision traceable if a supplier later suggests a substitute.

Before ordering, check that every row has a model and a named verifier. Put undecided appliances on hold rather than filling the schedule with assumed dimensions. The aim is a coordinated purchase, not a measurement exercise that leaves responsibility unclear.
